CVE-2017-16642 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the PHP date extension, affecting PHP versions before 5.6.32, 7.0.25, and 7.1.11, as well as products from Canonical, Debian, and NetApp. This high-severity vulnerability (CVSS 7.5) allows unauthenticated attackers to remotely leak information from the interpreter by supplying specially crafted date strings, with no user interaction required. While there is no evidence of active exploitation in the wild and minimal community discussion, a public exploit (EDB-43133) exists, demonstrating a heap buffer overflow related to this flaw.
