CVE-2017-16541

26
FAUCET Score

CVE-2017-16541, dubbed "TorMoil," is a medium-severity vulnerability affecting Tor Browser before version 7.0.9 on macOS and Linux. It allows remote attackers to bypass Tor's anonymity feature and discover a client's real IP address through a crafted website exploiting a file:// mishandling flaw in Firefox. The attack requires user interaction (UI:R) but has low attack complexity (AC:L) and can lead to high confidentiality impact (C:H). While there is no evidence of active exploitation (KEV: No) and no public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB: None), the vulnerability received some community attention and media coverage upon discovery.
