CVE-2017-14174 is a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability in ImageMagick versions 7.0.7-0 Q16 and earlier, affecting various distributions including Canonical, Debian, and Ubuntu Linux. The flaw, located in the ReadPSDLayersInternal() function, arises from a missing End of File (EOF) check when processing crafted PSD files. An attacker can exploit this by providing a PSD file that claims a large "length" field but lacks sufficient data, causing the application to enter an infinite loop and consume excessive CPU resources. Rated as MEDIUM severity (CVSS 6.5), it requires user interaction (UI:R) and can lead to high availability impact (A:H). There is currently no known active exploitation, publicly available exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
