CVE-2017-12246 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software, affecting various ASA products including the 5500 Series and Firepower appliances. It stems from incomplete input validation in the direct authentication feature's HTTP header. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this by sending a crafted HTTP request, causing the device to reload. With a CVSS score of 8.6 (High), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity and no user interaction, leading to a complete loss of availability.
