CVE-2017-11588 is a critical remote command execution vulnerability affecting Cisco DDR2200 and DDR2201v1 ADSL2+ Residential Gateways. An unauthenticated attacker can inject shell metacharacters into the pingAddr parameter of the waitPingqry.cgi URI, leading to arbitrary command execution with visible output. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with no user interaction, resulting in complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no public exploit code available (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), and it has received minimal community discussion or media coverage, indicating low public awareness despite its severity.
