CVE-2017-1081 describes a kernel panic vulnerability in FreeBSD versions prior to 11.0-STABLE, 11.0-RELEASE-p10, 10.3-STABLE, and 10.3-RELEASE-p19. This flaw occurs when the ipfilter feature, configured with "keep state" or "keep frags" options, processes specially crafted packet fragments, leading to incorrect memory handling. Rated with a CVSS score of 7.5 (HIGH), this vulnerability can be exploited remotely over the network with low attack complexity, resulting in a denial-of-service due to a kernel panic.
