CVE-2016-9849 is a critical vulnerability in phpMyAdmin versions 4.6.x (prior to 4.6.5), 4.4.x (prior to 4.4.15.9), and 4.0.x (prior to 4.0.10.18) that allows for the bypass of AllowRoot restrictions and deny rules for usernames. This flaw, rated with a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), enables an unauthenticated attacker to achieve full confidentiality, integrity, and availability compromise over a network with low attack complexity. Despite its severity, there is currently no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.
