CVE-2016-9579 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability in Ceph Object Gateway, affecting branches 1.3.x and 2.x of Ceph, as well as products from Canonical and Red Hat. This flaw allows an unauthenticated attacker to trigger a denial of service by sending a specially crafted cross-origin HTTP request when the CORS policy is set to allow origin on a bucket. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (HIGH), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity, requiring no user interaction or privileges. Despite its high severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
