CVE-2016-8864 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting ISC BIND 9.x versions prior to 9.9.9-P4, 9.10.x prior to 9.10.4-P4, and 9.11.x prior to 9.11.0-P1, as well as products from Debian, NetApp, and Red Hat. This high-severity vulnerability (CVSS 7.5) allows unauthenticated remote attackers to crash the BIND daemon by sending a specially crafted DNAME record in response to a recursive query.
