CVE-2016-8586 describes a critical arbitrary code execution vulnerability in Trend Micro Threat Discovery Appliance versions 2.6.1062r1 and earlier. Authenticated attackers can exploit this flaw by injecting shell metacharacters into the cache_id parameter of the detected_potential_files.cgi script, leading to root-level compromise. With a CVSS score of 8.8 (High), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity and no user interaction, allowing for complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While no public exploit code or active exploitation has been observed, the high severity warrants immediate patching.
