CVE-2016-8370 describes a critical vulnerability in Mitsubishi Electric Automation MELSEC-Q series Ethernet interface modules (QJ71E71-100, QJ71E71-B5, QJ71E71-B2) where weakly encrypted passwords are transmitted to the PLC. This allows an unauthenticated attacker to remotely intercept and decrypt these passwords, gaining unauthorized access to the industrial control system. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), the vulnerability has a low attack complexity and high confidentiality impact, but no integrity or availability impact.
