CVE-2016-7955 is a critical authentication bypass vulnerability affecting AlienVault OSSIM before version 5.3.1 and USM before 5.3.1. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit a flaw in the logcheck function by manipulating the HTTP User-Agent header, specifically "AV Report Scheduler". This allows for complete compromise, including sensitive information disclosure, application modification, or arbitrary code execution as root. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with no user interaction required, leading to high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
