CVE-2016-7072 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting PowerDNS Authoritative Server versions prior to 3.4.11 and 4.0.2. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by opening numerous TCP connections to the web server, causing it to run out of file descriptors and terminate the entire PowerDNS process. This vulnerability has a CVSS score of 7.5 (High) due to its network attack vector and low attack complexity, leading to a complete loss of availability.
