CVE-2016-5636 is an integer overflow vulnerability in the get_data function within CPython (Python) versions before 2.7.12, 3.x before 3.4.5, and 3.5.x before 3.5.2. This flaw allows remote attackers to trigger a heap-based buffer overflow by providing a negative data size value, leading to a critical impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. With a CVSS score of 9.8, it is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity and no user interaction required. Despite its high severity and potential for remote code execution, there is currently no public exploit code available, nor is there evidence of active exploitation or significant community discussion.
