CVE-2016-5211 describes a use-after-free vulnerability in PDFium, a PDF rendering engine used in Google Chrome versions prior to 55.0.2883.75 (Mac, Windows, Linux) and 55.0.2883.84 (Android). This flaw allows a remote attacker to potentially achieve heap corruption by enticing a user to open a specially crafted PDF file. With a CVSS score of 8.8 (High), successful exploitation could lead to high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts. While there is no evidence of active exploitation (KEV: No) or public exploit code (Metasploit, ExploitDB, Nuclei: None), the vulnerability received moderate community discussion and media coverage at the time of its disclosure.
