CVE-2016-4852 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting YoruFukurou (NightOwl) versions prior to 2.85 on OS X 10.9. The flaw stems from YoruFukurou's reliance on emoji skin-tone modifier support, which is absent in the CoreText CTFramesetter API on the specified OS. This allows remote attackers to crash the application by sending a specially crafted emoji character sequence. Rated as MEDIUM severity (CVSS 6.5), it requires user interaction (UI:R) and has a network attack vector (AV:N), leading to high availability impact (A:H).
