CVE-2016-4029 describes a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) bypass vulnerability in WordPress versions prior to 4.5. The flaw arises because WordPress fails to properly validate octal and hexadecimal IP address formats when attempting to prevent requests to internal network addresses, affecting WordPress installations on Debian and other platforms. This allows unauthenticated remote attackers to bypass the intended SSRF protection, potentially leading to high integrity impact (data modification) on internal systems, as indicated by its CVSSv3.1 score of 8.6 (HIGH).
