CVE-2016-2509 describes a vulnerability in Belden Hirschmann Classic Platform switches (L2B, L2E, L2P, L3E, L3P firmware versions before 05.3.07 and 09.0.06 respectively). The password-sync feature inadvertently sets the SNMP community string to the administrator password, allowing remote attackers on the same network segment to sniff traffic and obtain sensitive information. This medium severity vulnerability (CVSS 5.3) has an adjacent attack vector and high confidentiality impact, but requires high attack complexity.
