CVE-2016-2140 describes a vulnerability in OpenStack Compute (Nova) versions prior to 2015.1.4 (kilo) and 12.0.3 (liberty), specifically within the libvirt driver when configured with raw storage and use_cow_images set to false. This flaw allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary files by injecting a crafted qcow2 header into an ephemeral or root disk. Rated Medium (CVSS 5.3), the vulnerability requires authenticated access and high attack complexity, but can lead to significant information disclosure.
