CVE-2016-1902

25
FAUCET Score

CVE-2016-1902 describes a critical vulnerability in the SecureRandom class's nextBytes function within Symfony versions prior to 2.3.37, 2.6.13, and 2.7.9, affecting Debian and SensioLabs Symfony installations. This flaw, present when PHP 5.x is used without paragonie/random_compat and openssl_random_pseudo_bytes fails, results in improperly generated random numbers. With a CVSSv3 score of 7.5 (High), it allows unauthenticated attackers to remotely bypass cryptographic protections with low attack complexity, potentially leading to high confidentiality impact. Despite its severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
