CVE-2016-1453 describes a critical buffer overflow vulnerability in the Overlay Transport Virtualization (OTV) GRE feature of Cisco NX-OS, affecting Nexus 7000 and 7700 devices running versions 5.0 through 7.3. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by sending specially crafted packets with overly long parameters. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), the vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with no user interaction, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
