CVE-2016-10191

33
FAUCET Score

CVE-2016-10191 describes a critical heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the libavformat/rtmppkt.c component of FFmpeg, affecting versions prior to 2.8.10, 3.0.5, 3.1.6, and 3.2.2. This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by exploiting a failure to properly validate RTMP packet sizes. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network without user interaction and can lead to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its high severity and potential for remote code execution, there is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
