CVE-2016-10162 describes a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the php_wddx_pop_element function within PHP versions 7.0.x before 7.0.15 and 7.1.x before 7.1.1. This flaw allows remote attackers to trigger a denial of service (application crash) by providing a malformed wddxPacket XML document with an inapplicable class name during a wddx_deserialize call. The vulnerability carries a CVSSv3 score of 7.5 (High), indicating a high-severity issue. It is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity and no user interaction required, leading to a complete loss of availability for affected systems.
