CVE-2015-8917 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability in bsdtar within libarchive versions prior to 3.2.0, affecting various Canonical and Debian Linux distributions. An unauthenticated remote attacker can trigger a NULL pointer dereference and crash by providing a specially crafted cab file containing an invalid character in its name.
