CVE-2015-1172 describes an unrestricted file upload vulnerability in the admin/upload-file.php component of the Holding Pattern WordPress theme (version 0.6 and earlier). This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to upload arbitrary PHP code by simply providing a file with a .php extension, which can then be executed by directly accessing the uploaded file. With a CVSS score of 7.5, this vulnerability is considered highly severe due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and potential for complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While not listed on the KEV catalog, a Metasploit module exists for this vulnerability, indicating readily available exploit code, though there is no evidence of active exploitation or significant community discussion.
