CVE-2014-9629

20
FAUCET Score

CVE-2014-9629 is an integer overflow vulnerability in the VideoLAN VLC media player (versions prior to 2.1.6 and 2.2.1). This flaw, residing in the Encode function within modules/codec/schroedinger.c, allows remote attackers to trigger a buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code through a specially crafted length value. Rated as High severity (CVSS 7.8), successful exploitation requires user interaction (UI:R) and could lead to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage, suggesting it is not widely targeted.
