CVE-2013-1707 describes a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the Mozilla Updater component, affecting Mozilla Firefox, Firefox ESR, Thunderbird, and Thunderbird ESR versions prior to their respective patched releases. This local privilege escalation flaw (CVSS 7.2) allows an attacker to gain full control over the affected system by providing a specially crafted, long pathname to the Mozilla Maintenance Service. While the vulnerability is severe, there is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code, or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding it.
