CVE-2012-5960

59
FAUCET Score

CVE-2012-5960 describes a critical stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the unique_service_name function of the SSDP parser within the portable SDK for UPnP Devices (libupnp) prior to version 1.6.18. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by sending a crafted UDP packet with an excessively long UDN field. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this vulnerability is highly severe due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While not listed on CISA's KEV, a Metasploit module for this vulnerability exists (EDB-24455), indicating readily available exploit code, despite a lack of broader community discussion or media coverage.
