CVE-2012-2088 is an integer signedness error in the TIFFReadDirectory function of libtiff versions 3.9.4 and earlier. This flaw allows remote attackers to trigger a heap-based buffer overflow by providing a specially crafted TIFF image with a negative tile depth, leading to an application crash and potentially arbitrary code execution. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over a network with low attack complexity and no authentication required, potentially impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
