CVE-2012-1015

31
FAUCET Score

CVE-2012-1015 describes a critical vulnerability in the Key Distribution Center (KDC) of MIT Kerberos 5 versions 1.8.x, 1.9.x before 1.9.5, and 1.10.x before 1.10.3. The flaw allows remote attackers to trigger a checksum calculation before validating the key type, leading to arbitrary code execution or a denial of service through heap memory corruption and daemon crashes. With a CVSS score of 9.3, this vulnerability is highly severe due to its network-based attack vector, medium attack complexity, and complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code, or significant community discussion, and it is not listed in CISA's KEV catalog.
