CVE-2011-3287 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability in Cisco Jabber Extensible Communications Platform (XCP) versions 2.x through 5.4.x and 5.8.x. This flaw, similar to CVE-2003-1564, allows remote attackers to crash the process and consume excessive memory and CPU by sending a specially crafted XML document with deeply nested entity references, exploiting improper recursion detection during entity expansion. With a CVSS score of 7.8, it is considered high severity due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and complete availability impact.
