CVE-2011-2198 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting gnome-terminal (vte) versions prior to 0.28.1, as well as various distributions of GNOME, OpenSUSE, and Oracle Solaris. An authenticated remote attacker can exploit this flaw by sending a specially crafted file containing an escape sequence, leading to excessive CPU and memory consumption and a crash. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 3.5 (low severity) due to its network attack vector, medium attack complexity, and partial availability impact.
