CVE-2011-1944

47
FAUCET Score

CVE-2011-1944 is an integer overflow vulnerability in libxml2 versions 2.6.x through 2.6.32 and 2.7.x through 2.7.8, as well as libxml 1.8.16 and earlier. This flaw allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and potentially execute arbitrary code via a crafted XML file that triggers a heap-based buffer overflow during XPath expression processing. With a CVSS score of 9.3, this vulnerability is critical, requiring no authentication and having high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While there is no evidence of active exploitation, a Metasploit module is not available, but an ExploitDB entry (EDB-35810) exists, indicating public exploit code for multiple memory corruption vulnerabilities in libxml2 2.7.x related to XPath.
