CVE-2011-1869 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the Distributed File System (DFS) in various Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows XP, Vista, 7, and Server 2003/2008. A remote DFS server can exploit this by sending a specially crafted referral response, leading to a system hang on the vulnerable client. With a CVSS score of 7.8 (High), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity and no authentication required, resulting in a complete loss of availability.
