CVE-2011-1729

32
FAUCET Score

CVE-2011-1729 describes a critical stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the Backup Client Service (OmniInet.exe) of HP OpenView Storage Data Protector versions 6.00, 6.10, and 6.11. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected systems by sending a specially crafted GET_FILE message. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this vulnerability is highly severe due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its age and high severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code in common frameworks like Metasploit or ExploitDB, or significant community discussion or media coverage.
