CVE-2010-4669 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability in the Neighbor Discovery (ND) protocol implementation of the IPv6 stack in various Microsoft Windows operating systems, including XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008, and Windows 7. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this by sending numerous Router Advertisement (RA) messages with distinct source addresses, leading to high CPU consumption and system hangs. This vulnerability has a CVSS score of 7.8, indicating high severity due to its network-based attack vector and complete availability impact.
