CVE-2010-2583 describes a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the SonicWALL SSL-VPN End-Point Interrogator/Installer ActiveX control (Aventail.EPInstaller) versions prior to 10.5.2 and 10.0.5 hotfix 3. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by supplying excessively long CabURL and Location arguments to the Install3rdPartyComponent method. With a CVSS score of 9.3 (Critical), this vulnerability has a high potential impact, allowing for complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability with medium attack complexity. Despite its severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code in Metasploit or ExploitDB, nor significant community discussion or media coverage.
