CVE-2009-3235 describes multiple stack-based buffer overflows in the Sieve plugin of Dovecot versions 1.0.0 through 1.0.3 and 1.1.0 through 1.1.6. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to trigger a denial of service (crash) and potentially execute arbitrary code by supplying a specially crafted SIEVE script, such as one forwarding an email to many recipients. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), the attack vector is network-based with low complexity, enabling partial confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts.
