CVE-2009-2689

27
FAUCET Score

CVE-2009-2689 describes a critical privilege escalation vulnerability in Sun Java SE 5.0 (before Update 20) and 6 (before Update 15), as well as OpenJDK. This flaw allows untrusted applets or applications to gain full privileges by exploiting the JDK13Services.getProviders function, bypassing intended security restrictions. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this vulnerability is easily exploitable over a network with low complexity and no authentication, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its high severity and potential impact, there is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
