CVE-2009-0509

26
FAUCET Score

CVE-2009-0509 describes a critical heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability within the JBIG2 filter of Adobe Reader and Acrobat versions 7, 8, and 9 prior to their respective patched releases. This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable system by enticing a user to open a specially crafted file, leading to memory corruption. With a CVSS score of 9.3, it represents a high-severity risk due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
