CVE-2008-4638 describes a local information disclosure vulnerability in the qioadmin utility of Symantec Veritas File System (VxFS) on HP-UX, and older versions on Solaris, Linux, and AIX. An authenticated local attacker could exploit this by tricking qioadmin into outputting arbitrary file content to standard error within an error message. With a CVSS score of 4.6 (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:C/I:N/A:N), this vulnerability has low attack complexity and requires local authentication, but allows for complete confidentiality compromise. There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
