CVE-2007-2442 describes a critical remote code execution vulnerability in the gssrpc__svcauth_gssapi function of the RPC library within MIT Kerberos 5 (krb5) versions 1.6.1 and earlier. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary code by sending a specially crafted zero-length RPC credential, leading to an uninitialized pointer free during cleanup in the kadmind process. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity, granting complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its high severity and EPSS score, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
