CVE-2006-6134 describes a heap-based buffer overflow in the WMCheckURLScheme function of Microsoft Windows Media Player (WMP) 10.00.00.4036 on Windows XP SP2, Server 2003, and Server 2003 SP1. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to trigger a denial of service or execute arbitrary code by supplying a specially crafted ASX PlayList file containing a long HREF attribute with an unrecognized protocol. With a CVSS score of 7.5, this vulnerability is considered highly severe due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and potential for complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its high risk, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
