83
FAUCET Score

CVE-2006-4691 describes a critical stack-based buffer overflow in the NetpManageIPCConnect function of the Workstation service (wkssvc.dll) affecting Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4 and XP SP2. This vulnerability allows remote, unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary code by sending crafted NetrJoinDomain2 RPC messages with an excessively long hostname. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this vulnerability is extremely severe, requiring no authentication or complex attack vectors, and leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While not listed in CISA's KEV catalog, multiple public exploits, including Metasploit modules and several ExploitDB entries, demonstrate its exploitability. Despite its age and high severity, there is minimal community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
