CVE-2005-4852

15
FAUCET Score

CVE-2005-4852 describes an access restriction bypass vulnerability in eZ publish versions 3.5 through 3.8, prior to the 20050812 patch. The flaw stems from the siteaccess URIMatching implementation, which converts non-alphanumeric characters in a URI to underscores. This allows remote attackers to circumvent access controls by crafting URIs that, after conversion, match rules intended for different paths. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 5.0, indicating a medium severity. It is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity and requires no authentication, leading to a partial integrity impact (bypassing access restrictions). There is no confidentiality or availability impact. There is no evidence of active exploitation, nor is there any publicly available exploit code in Metasploit, Nuclei, or ExploitDB. The vulnerability has received minimal community attention, with no social media discussion or media coverage.
