CVE-2005-3788 describes a race condition in Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) versions 7.0(0), 7.0(2), and 7.0(4) when configured for Active/Standby failover. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service by sending spoofed ARP responses if the failover LAN interface fails, preventing the standby firewall from assuming an active role. With a CVSS score of 5.4, this vulnerability has a network attack vector and high attack complexity, leading to a complete loss of availability.
