CVE-2005-2619 describes a directory traversal vulnerability in the kvarcve.dll component of Autonomy (formerly Verity) KeyView SDK, affecting versions prior to 9.2.0, including its use in Lotus Notes 6.5.4 and 7.0. This flaw allows remote attackers to delete arbitrary files by crafting malicious ZIP, UUE, or TAR archives containing ".." (dot dot) sequences in filenames, which are not properly sanitized during preview generation. With a CVSS score of 9.3, this vulnerability is critical, requiring no authentication and moderate attack complexity, but leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
