CVE-2004-0823

20
FAUCET Score

CVE-2004-0823 describes a vulnerability in OpenLDAP versions 1.0 through 2.1.19, including its use in Apple Mac OS 10.3.4 and 10.3.5. This flaw allows certain authentication schemes to treat hashed passwords stored in the userPassword attribute as if they were plaintext. This means remote attackers could reuse these hashed passwords for authentication without needing to decrypt them first. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 7.5, indicating high severity. It is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity and no authentication required, potentially leading to partial compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its age and severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, nor are there any known public exploit codes available in Metasploit, Nuclei, or ExploitDB. Community discussion and media coverage for this CVE are also minimal, suggesting it has not garnered significant attention.
