CVE-2000-1176 describes a directory traversal vulnerability in the search.pl CGI script of YaBB forum software. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to read arbitrary files on the server by manipulating the "catsearch" form field with a dot-dot-slash (../) attack. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity, potentially leading to unauthorized information disclosure, and possibly arbitrary code execution as indicated by an ExploitDB entry. While there is no evidence of active exploitation in the wild or Metasploit/Nuclei modules, an ExploitDB entry exists for arbitrary command execution.
