CVE-2000-0409 describes a local file overwrite vulnerability in Netscape Communicator versions 4.73 and earlier. The flaw allows a local attacker to leverage the browser's certificate import function, which improperly follows symbolic links, to overwrite arbitrary files on the user's system. Rated with a CVSS score of 3.7 (LOW), this vulnerability requires local access and high attack complexity, but could lead to partial confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts. While no active exploitation is reported and community discussion is minimal, a proof-of-concept exploit exists on ExploitDB.
